THE PROCESS OF PEACE

Bubbles are moments of suppressed action. They are beautiful, delicate, and about to break apart and disappear forever. Eggs equally share this description. Throughout my work, I employ these forms to express the anticipation and that moment of stillness before chaos. These images express my attempt to find peace, something that is all too easily shattered. My use of thread is symbolic of community and familial connections. Hand stitching is an expression of one person’s care for another because of its time consuming nature. It is a reference to the shared work and story telling you might find within a quilting circle amongst friends. My work consistently explores relationships and the shelter one finds with one’s loved ones.
