Pinch Pots
I picked up clay earlier this year for the first time in over five. I found that with clay in my hands I had space for processing many feelings including grief, pain, and joy.
These pinch pots are a series of text-based ceramics that return me to a medium, theme, and parts of myself that I thought I had lost. Clay is a versatile medium that can make functional pottery and conceptual artwork. Pinch pots are a beautiful way to create meditative work that is functional and can also hold the emotion, time, and energy of the artist. By adding text to each piece I look to question how creating a vessel holds space for physical and metaphorical things. A beverage, love, history, and more.
